Is free exposure gone?
There are so many different web sites around the world and most of them don't get that great of exposure for one or many reasons. Back in the early 90s when the internet was growing getting exposure wasn't too hard considering there weren't too many sites competing. Now it seems almost impossible to get great exposure without ending up shelling out a few bills to an ad company. I'm going to go into some detail on the best ways there are to advertise both free and paid.
PPC
Pay Per Click is perhaps the most common type of paid advertising there is on the internet. Most search engines have their own PPC services to give you high rankings on sites. This PPC in Austin company offers search engine SEO like many other companies out there. This advertising works well because you only pay for those people who click on your links. This usually means that they are looking for your service to begin with. The biggest problem with PPC is that the main keywords have been taken and are expensive for click. You can aim for a keyword that is related to save money, but it won't work quite as well. I still think PPC is the best paid method there is to promote.
Pay Per Post
Pay Per Post is one of the best ways there is to gain link power for your site. It works this way, you pay for people to post your link on their blog, these links are work so much in SEO. The cool thing is you can offer the price you want and all of the details of the posts. The only problem with this site is the ethical questions many critics have raised about it's build. However if you find this method ethical it will most likely work well for you.
Digg.com
Digg is basically a site where you go and talk about things you find interesting, for instance your web page. If you provide great content and an interesting story posting on Digg.com for free will offer you a great tool to reach people. I've used digg to mention my Epic Zone articles and it's worked with great success. Since I started doing this I've reached some of the highest visitor numbers in the history of my web site. This is free and I highly suggest you look into it.
Google Sitemaps
Google Sitemaps is not really an advertising tool, but submitting a sitemap to Google will help the engine crawl your site much better and this leads to your site having a better chance on Google's engine. So I highly suggest you do this, it only takes a few minutes and it can make a nice difference.
After judging 3 of the better ways to promote your web site I have to say, the only way you can hammer down great exposure without paying is to have great content. It all really comes down to creating something truly unique and interesting. If you're writing mimicks someone else, develope your own style to set yourself apart. The true way to gain exposure is by being different. Otherwise you can try these tools above.
